“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. … Who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” — Psalm 103:1, 5
Today in our healing prayer class, we talked about Psalm 103, and particularly came to rest on verse 5. How is our “youth renewed” in healing prayer?
I’ve been down for 10 days with strep throat, and my energy is still not back to normal. I feel weak, and tired. It seems the older I get, the longer it takes to recover from an illness. Antibiotics help, but not as fast or powerfully as they used to.
So what can I expect to find from God in this prayer about renewing youth?
Here’s what I think – and I invite you to pray through and meditate on this verse to see what you feel from God.
I feel that even when our bodies get older, and don’t quite do the things we want them to do, God is renewing our spirit. As God renews our youthful spirit, not only does this renewing affect our life and those around us, but it begins to heal our bodies as well.
I might not end up playing a soccer game with teenagers at 50 years old. But I can sure bounce and cheer at the sidelines!
My prayer is that I will continue to allow God to renew my youthful spirit, and I believe my physical body, my mind, and everything about me will begin to renew as well.
And that’s a very good thing, to find a vibrant life in our spirit, as we speak life to those around us.
Take some time today and pray over Psalm 103:5 and see what God does.
